The next evolution in bike riding around the city has come with valet parking for bikes.

The UrbanScrawlDC newsletter reports the new wave of bike ridership that includes 10,000 daily trips on those red Capital Bikeshare cycles you see around town now has a company willing to valet park them. I was a little skeptical until seeing photos of hundreds of bikes at downtown events.

The great part of our country is entrepeneurship and Two Wheel Valet is the latest to find a niche. I remember a company about 10 years ago wanting to valet park cars for tourists unable to find space around the National Mall, though it never happened. I’ve seen bike racks outside Nationals Park and wondered why bother. But for every bike messenger I no longer see, there are several young adults wheeling away.

Now if I just had the energy to join them.
