The Jefferson was rated Washington’s top hotel by Travel + Leisure. Personally, I would have moved No. 4 The Willard (photo above) to the top, but they’re both great hotels. I just like The WIllard’s history more.
No. 2 was the Hay-Adams just above the White House. The ghost stories are weird, but the “Off the Record” bar is cool for people watching. No. 3 The DuPont Circle is a tad overrated. Nice hotel, but we’re talking heavyweights here.
After the Willard, the Four Seasons is No. 5, followed by the InterContinental on the Wharf, Park Hyatt, St. Regis, Conrad and Mayflower. The Waldorf Astoria (old Trump Hotel) should be on the list.
My top 5 rankings would be Willard, Mayflower, Four Seasons, Hay-Adams and Waldorf Astoria. Next five would include St. Regis, Jefferson, Mandarin Oriental, Park Hyatt and J.R. Marriott.
