Visit Julia Child’s kitchen at American History Museum

I’m a big fan of Julia Child.

I first watched her as a kid, more mesmerized by the sound of her voice than what she was cooking. “Bon appetit” in that squeaky voice made me laugh.

But while taking visitors through the Smithsonian’s American History Museum, I became more interested in discussing her legacy as America’s first prominent TV chef. Julia changed our lives by introducing French food and more. Butcher shops called the show days ahead to see what meat they needed for coming demand.

That’s just the beginning of Julia. There are many fine biographies, including the newly-released The Secret War of Julia Child.

So stop by Julia’s real kitchen where several episodes were filmed from her Washington home.
