It sure seems like our little backwater of a town a generation ago has grown tremendously. But really, we’re not nearly as crowded as most cities thanks to those massive government buildings. Then again, that’s why traffic is so bad since nobody lives near where they work.
A U.S. Census report shows Washington isn’t among the top 125 American cities in population density. We have 9,900 people per square mile inside the town’s borders. That’s 500 more than 2000, but nothing compared to New York’s 26,000.
Foggy Bottom with all those George Washington University students is the most dense neighborhood at 37,000 per square mile.
