Arlington National Cemetery app is simply wonderful

graves2The spring boom of tourists is here and it brings some unusual moments. Besides the big crowds that on one tour forced me to use three people as chain points to move through several memorials, there are a lot of quieter moments that make guiding worthwhile.

I led a private family tour of Arlington National Cemetery when one said her great aunt was buried somewhere on the grounds. I asked did she want to find the grave? She said that would be great.

Not long ago, it would have been a much harder task. But now thanks to the new app by the cemetery, I found the info in seconds and the walking directions took me right to the grave. It was so simple.

The woman was so happy she called her mother immediately to say where she was. The family took photos with the stone.

Vietnam Wall namesIt was a touching moment that thanks to technology I was able to provide. Same goes for finding names on the Vietnam Wall with “The Wall” app. I know those people will go home and always talk about finding their loved ones at Arlington and Vietnam.

And I’m grateful to have helped.
