A Supreme illusion

Supreme Court exterior

From a distance, the marbled front of the U.S. Supreme Court looks like it always does. But when you walk up to it, you realize it’s all an illusion.

A scrim (sheet) covers scaffolding that’s repairing crumbling marble on the façade. The scrim is a photo of how the Supreme Court entrance normally looks. Work is expected through year’s end before completion of the near two-year project.

Visitors now enter on the sides of the staircase instead of climbing the stairs.
