After three solid months of guiding several times weekly, I even managed two different tours twice in three days.
And then crash.
I figured it was fatigue. Turns out a series of different illnesses were all interrelated — staph infection. Damn, where’d that come from?
The national mall sidewalks will miss me for a little while. Just one evening tour over a month while I regroup and just work my regular job as The Washington Examiner’s sports columnist. Even heading to the beach later this week. It’s not always about making every dollar. I’m just grateful for a Patient First doctor who immediately recognized and treated me properly when my 20-year primary physician wasn’t able to see me.
