The Force of the West lies within hotel lobby

I’ve heard there are 3,150 monuments, memorials and statues around town. I’ve probably seen a few hundred. It makes me wonder where the other 90 percent lie?

I discovered “The Force of the West” while entering the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel. Created by famed Filipino artist Eduardo Castrillo, the 1973 sculpture was described by the artist as “I want it to be like a strong wind had made it.”

A Washington News article describes the piece as deeply intellectual, that everyday people just couldn’t appreciate it. Well, it looks to me like a bunch of large black boulders haphazardly piled atop each other.
