It gives me the willies just looking up at this. Engineers began inspecting the top exterior of the Washington Monument for damage from the Aug. 23 earthquake that created cracks and falling debris. They’ll rappel down today. No word on when the Washington Monument reopens. Reports the elevator is also damaged sounds like springtime at best.
