I always thought when some actor said it was an honor to just be nominated that they were full of it. Now I know better.

When learning I was a finalist for Washington Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, I figured it was awesome but I wouldn’t win. These things are popularity contests and I’m well, not the most popular person in town.

So I was pretty shocked to learn I tied for the award. I guess 33 years covering Washington sports bought some goodwill.
